A victim reported to PA State Police on Nov. 19, 2019, that they had been struck by a driver in a neon green Camaro, who quickly fled the scene in Warwick Township, according to the Chester County District Attorney's office.
The driver -- later determined to be Robbie Wharton IV, 27, of Freeport, FL -- also struck a car head-on minutes later, the DA's office said.
When police arrived on the scene, a good samaritan was giving CPR to 25-year-old Dominique Jennings, authorities said.
Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene when EMS personnel arrived, the DA's office said.
The driver of the first car that was struck was sent to an area hospital for treatment.
“Drugs and this defendant’s criminal behavior caused the tragic death of Dominique Jennings, the consequences of which have impacted the victim’s family in ways no one ever wants to experience," DA Deb Ryan said.
"I hope the victim’s family finds some measure of peace with this sentence.”
After pleading guilty to DUI homicide and related charges, Wharton IV was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison by Judge Patrick Carmody.
The case was investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michelle Frei and Assistant District Attorney Zackary Yurick.
